New Card Batch 6

This time I'm not adding cards from any order or booster pack, just bringing back ones I had removed from the cube and a few from my collection.

The main points in this update were:

1. Taking out things that weren't played often.

2. Kicking out my rules of "no functional reprints" that was keeping Terramorphic Expanse and Elite Vanguard out because of Evolving Wilds and Savannah Lions.

3. Try out some stuff I have a good feeling about:

4. Bring back those cards we've missed:

5. After so much discussion, put Equilibrium in.

  1. Panoptic Mirror getting out surprises me. I always rated it highly, and I'm the one who likes noncreatures the least.

Other cards going out that surprise me are: Blade of the Sixth Pride, Merfolk Looter, Boomerang, and Krosan Tusker. And wasn't Decree of Pain a powerhouse?

But I like very much most of the changes. Yay for Arcanis, an old favorite of mine I never got to play with. It'll take some effort not to force myself into blue next time.

Green and black also got some nice cards, although losing some good ones. White just got some upgrades. Red's changes are solid but don't excite me. I still think you need a Goblin Sharpshooter there, I love that guy.

Lands, artifacts and multicoloreds are kinda meh, but it's an improvement on the cube's lower power levels. I love Quicksilver Dagger.

  2. Panoptic hadn't seen play in ages, and out of dozens of drafts it was only good in one, imprinting Repel.

Blade of the Sixth Pride was very underwhelming compared to Accorder Paladin, and had never been played (not that I remember at least). Looter was mediocre - too fragile, average ability for limited, and fought for the most disputed slot: blue 2cc. Boomerang was rarely if ever used, in that same slot. Tusker hadn't been used much either, but as a creature he sucks by today's power level, and the cantrip Lay of the Land was not good enough - 3 mana not affecting the board is only playable in a slow game.

Decree of Pain has had its highs and lows, but at 8 mana it was rarely hard cast anymore. I'm giving it a break.

I think red is in need of an upgrade, but Sharpshooter costs 10 USD.
